Hi friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful week.  Since I know many of you are working from home right now, I thought I’d share a design board I created for my own home office. This space also functions as a quiet space where I can just get away from it all–kind of an indoor version of a “she shed.”

When we moved into our home a few years ago I was working from home for the U.S. Courts, so this room was designed around that purpose, with plenty of desktop and storage space.  Nowadays, I use my office space to blog, edit photos, keep up with emails, and do some writing.

In addition, since I added a comfy chair, it’s become my retreat space, where I go to pray, meditate, read, journal, and just ponder.  I also keep a yoga mat tucked in the corner so I can take little breaks throughout the day to stretch and rewind.

Some things I included in my office design and which I think are great to have in a home office space:

  • a desk
  • good lighting
  • an office chair–preferably one that swivels and rolls
  • an extra console table or cabinet to hold your printer
  • a cozy chair for reading
  • a soft rug underfoot
  • favorite photos
  • flowers and plants
  • inspiring artwork
